Film Synopsis: We see the story of the battle through the eyes of Jędrek – a young boy who went through the hell of the gulag and left Russia with the Anders Army as one of thousands of orphans. The time of captivity changed him from a boy from a good family into a schemer and petty thief who will do anything to survive. However, the contact with the soldiers of the II Corps and the awakening love for the nurse Pola will cause Jędrek to undergo a profound transformation. Soon, a decisive attack on the monastery defended by German troops located on the hills of Monte Cassino is to take place at the front – this spectacular battle will decide the lives of many soldiers and the further attack of the Allied army in Italy, and will change Jędrek's life forever.
